We are looking for a creative thinker to provide community inclusion and vocational support to a young autistic man who lives in North Vancouver. He loves to have fun, is intelligent, and is learning to become more independent. He is interested in working on cars and machinery, trains, construction machines, trucks, music, animated movies, and enjoys going out for meals. He has a good sense of humour, and likes being out and around people. He is looking for a friendly supporter who will introduce him to new experiences.

Duties and responsibilities

This community inclusion/ vocational role will help this young man to learn how to live independently, engage in the community, and transition to employment. This young man is wanting to build relationships and is looking for a supporter who is committed to building that relationship with him. The support person will act as a peer, guide, be a mentor, and will be fun to be around. This person is collaborative and communicative, and able to promote learning and growth in others. They are fun, physically fit, friendly, patient, and like being around other people; They are able to work in a team and independently. This person sees people for who they are and believes in inclusion for everyone.

CSW: $20.09/hour to $22.75/hour

Driving Requirement

Driver's license (Class 5); Use of personal vehicle for work; Someone with a driver's license could also use a car co-op vehicle to get around, but a personal vehicle is preferred. Kilometres are reimbursed.

Specific Training or Experience Required

Supporting People who get anxious; Assisting People to find employment or support them in the workplace; Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)

Expected Hours of Work

Tuesday to Saturday, 11am-5pm
