Highlights

This important role is about supporting a wonderful, funny man once a week.  This position is great for someone who enjoys going out for drives to local Vancouver landmarks and dining out at restaurants.   This position, or more so the relationship that comes from this position, is an important part of supporting this person to have a well intentioned good life.

Duties and responsibilities

You will meet this person at their home which is near 4th Avenue and Alma Street.  Most evenings will involve going out for a drive and then dining in at a restaurant.  Some evenings you and the individual may stay home and prepare a meal.  Sometimes you may help the person to purchase groceries and there may be times when you will need to do some light housework.  Other duties may include:

Support the person to make healthy food choices
Provide information to the person when there is potential for complex challenges
Communicate with a fun and supportive team
Support dignity and independence

Program Manager

Rate of Pay

CSW: $20.09/hour to $22.75/hour

Probation

3 Months

Driving Requirement

Driver's license (Class 5)

Preferred Training or Experience

We are recommending a minimum 1 year related experience working within the community living sector or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.  Mental health experience would be an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Reliable
Calm and confident presence
Good listener
Demonstrated knowledge of practical skills in supporting people to observe and resolve conflicts in the community
Mandt training
Interest in politics and media would be an asset
Demonstrated ability to communicate key information to team members and supervisors
Driving is required, you will be driving the person's vehicle

 

Specific Training or Experience Required

Supporting People who get anxious; Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)

Expected Hours of Work

Fri 4 pm to 9 pm

This position can be combined with other positions and there are also opportunities for additional relief shifts with this person.
